Hello, I am Blake and I create things. By day I am a Mechanical Design Engineer creating parts for ambulances, police cars, and fire rescue. By night I spend much of my time building other cool things for myself. My most recent experiments have been with Edge AI and the accompanying hardware to make it possible. A couple other favorite have been building and piloting a UAS to 60,000 feet to inventing a patent pending IoT smart hydrometer. I am especially pleased when engineering and art are blended, resulting in unique, functionally aesthetic designs. If you are interested in one of my projects or would just like to say hi, feel free to send a message!

Facebook Reality Labs (Oculus)
Mechanical Engineer Intern
Fall 2019

One of the highlights of my early career was interning at Facebook Reality Labs helping develop the Meta Quest 2 VR platform and future AR Platforms. I worked with the Sensors Team, helping characterize IMU sensors selection for motion tracking. This work helped account for thermal drift in sensors packaged in tight enclosures like AR/VR headsets. For confidentiality reasons I cannot show pictures of the specific projects I worked on.

Mechatronics Research Assistant
2017-2019

Working on my MSME I developed a novel low-power magnetorehological fluid actuator that utilized an array of permanent magnets to modulate rotation braking force. My thesis is linked on the Projects page.
